What people are saying

Hear it from the runners

★★★★★

"I love running in new places and new cultures, but this is a way to really immerse, and not just visit as a tourist. It's raw, it's emotional, but that's how it should be."

Ade — pro ultrarunner

★★★★★

"It's had a massive impact on my life. Running through these areas, it motivates you to keep on going because you're not just doing it for yourself. You're doing it for the cause, for the future of the communities."

The week

Part adventure, part purpose

Six days built around a single-day 60km ultra and real connection with the communities you're funding.

1: Meet the communities

A Rise Ultra runner talking with a young girl during a community visit in the High Atlas

A hosted day with the High Atlas Foundation — you meet the people you're running for before you run a step. This is the heart of the week.

2: Run the 60km ultra

A runner climbing a rocky ridgeline high in the Atlas Mountains

A single-day ultra through the High Atlas on Day 3. Runners of all levels welcome — seasoned trail runners and first-timers on the same start line.

3: A life-changing experience

Runners embracing and celebrating at the Rise Ultra finish line

A week in Morocco that leaves you with friendship, perspective, and a purpose that stays with you long after you've flown home.

Secure your place

Meet the communities first. Then run for them.

Why we exist

You run for them

In September 2023, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck the High Atlas — Morocco's deadliest in over sixty years. Four years on, these communities are still rebuilding.

Where your money goes

Local jobs & paid work

Part of every entry funds paid roles in logistics, cooking, route support, aid stations and village projects.

Raise $3,000 for earthquake recovery

Every runner raises for the High Atlas Foundation, and we ask everyone to aim for $3,000. We set up your page, call you to plan it and help you get there. 100% goes to earthquake recovery.

Long-term support

The event keeps these villages visible and funded year-round, well beyond the recovery window.

Questions

Good to know.

Do I need to be an experienced runner?+

No. Many of our runners take on their first ultra here, and seasoned runners and first-timers line up together. You’ll have months of training support beforehand.

We never end anyone’s day because of their pace. Some checkpoints do have closing times, set with our local mountain team in line with local rules for international runners on remote ridges after dark. The main one: reach halfway (about 27km) within 5½ hours of the start. If you’re behind, we drive you ahead to a later checkpoint and you carry on to the finish with everyone else. See the checkpoint times.

Can I pay in instalments?+

Yes, and it's the standard option — 10 monthly payments of €205, the first today and the last in July 2027, or August if you start in November. There's no deposit on top, no credit check and no third party involved.

Klarna is also available at checkout if you'd rather split it differently.

If I pay monthly, do I still get the early price?+

Yes. Your price is locked the day your first payment clears, not the day you finish paying. Start a plan by 30 November 2026 and you pay the €1,950 rate across the whole plan, even though the instalments run into 2027.

If a plan lapses and isn't picked back up, the place returns to the rate current at that point.

Can I get a refund?+

Yes — fully refundable for 30 days from booking, as long as we’re more than 120 days from the start. Closer in than that we can usually transfer your place to another runner or defer you to the next edition — get in touch and we’ll sort out what works.

Can I get the referral discount?+

Yes — bring a friend and you both get €150 back, refunded to each of you once they’ve booked. Just tell us who to look out for. It stacks: every friend who joins is another €150 off for you, so three is €450.

Do I have to fundraise?+

There’s no minimum. We ask every runner to aim for $3,000 for the High Atlas Foundation and help you get there: we set up your page, call you to plan it, and your total sits on a public page with everyone else’s. Reach $3,000 by 31 October 2027 and we’ll send you €600 back.

How does the €600 back work?+

Raise $3,000 for the High Atlas Foundation by 31 October 2027 and we’ll send you €600 by bank transfer in November. It’s open to every runner, whatever you paid. What counts is the total on your HAF fundraising page, plus any offline gifts HAF confirms. Fall short and you’ve simply paid the normal price.

We’re a running club. How does it work for groups?+

Everyone books their own place and you fundraise as a team. Your club gets one team page and a team goal of $3,000 per runner, and every runner whose own page reaches $3,000 gets €600 back. Message us on WhatsApp and we’ll set it up.

What's included in the price?+

Entry covers the six days: premium accommodation, meals from the Day 1 welcome dinner to the Day 6 farewell breakfast (except lunch on Team Day), all transport including airport pick-up and drop-off and the Team Day vans, Ultra Day logistics and aid stations, and professional photos and documentary footage. It’s not all-inclusive: flights, personal travel insurance, drinks other than water, lunch on Day 1, and lunch and activities on Team Day aren’t included.

Standard entry includes a premium room shared with one other runner.

Do I need to book my own flights?+

Yes. Fly into Marrakech (RAK) on 7 October and home on 12 October, or on 11 October if you’re skipping Team Day. Flights aren’t covered, and neither are personal travel insurance, drinks other than water, lunch on Day 1, or lunch and activities on Team Day.

What’s Team Day, and do I have to stay?+

Team Day is Day 5, the day after the kids’ run: a free day together. The group votes on what to do, whether that’s Marrakech, Amizmiz, Lahô Lodge or a rest day at the hotel, and we sort the vans. Lunch and anything you do that day are on you. It’s optional: if you’d rather fly home a day early, leave on Day 5 (11 October) and we’ll get you to the airport. The price is the same either way.

Can I upgrade my room or bring a guest?+

Yes, and you choose it when you book. Standard entry includes a premium room shared with one other runner. A private room is +€450. A non-running guest is +€650 and shares your room, so there’s no private-room charge on top. Coming with another runner? Book you both in one go and you’ll share a room. On a payment plan, an upgrade is spread over your monthly payments. Every combination is in the next question.

What does each package cost?+

Every package includes everything in a standard entry, and you pick your room on the booking page. A non-running guest shares your room, so there’s no private-room charge on top, and two runners booked together share a room. All prices in euros.

Where is the event based?+

Is Morocco safe to travel to?+

The High Atlas region is operating normally and welcoming visitors. We advise referring to your country's government advice.

Do I need to hire a car?+

No. All transport is included for the six days, including Marrakech airport pick-up and drop-off and the vans on Team Day.
